Chapter Chapter 1 in Structured Matrices and Polynomials, 2001, pp 1-22 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we partly repeat but substantially extend the introductory description of our two main subjects sketched in the preface, that is, the subjects of unified superfast algebraic and numerical computations with structured matrices and the displacement rank approach. The latter subject is covered in some technical detail in Sections 1.2-1.5. The rest of the chapter is a non-technical but extensive introduction to unified superfast algorithms for computation with structured matrices. Further elaboration and technical details are given in Chapters 4–7.
