Abstract:
Abstract Euclid created the model of a mathematical text: Start with explicitly formulated definitions and axioms, then proceed with theorems and proofs. Unlike modern authors, who do not pretend to know what a set is, Euclid wants to say what he is talking about, or to give some sort of description of the objects of geometry. He does this in the first group of definitions, 1-9.
