Abstract:
Abstract The problems of spherics ask for the calculation of the sizes of circular arcs or angles on the surface of a sphere. In applications, the sphere was cither the celestial sphere or the earth, the former being a sphere that was thought to contain the fixed stars and to have such a large radius that, in relation to it. the earth was no more than a dot. However, the radius was finite and, for mathematical purposes, could be taken as the unit.
