Chapter 5 in Multidimensional Similarity Structure Analysis, 1987, pp 58-79 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Three applications of SSA are discussed. First, data on the perceived similarity of colors are studied. The predicted SSA configuration is the color circle, which is indeed found to be the best representation for the data. Second, confusion data on Morse codes are investigated. The SSA space shows various regional patterns which correspond to physical properties of the signals. Third, global similarity judgments of different facial expressions are studied. A dimensional system can be found which relates to particular empirical scales for the faces.
