Abstract: Abstract You don’t have to believe that there should be a new curriculum for the first two years of college mathematics to be interested in the results of this conference. You need only believe that the arguments in favor of change are substantial enough to make the exercise of developing a new curriculum worthwhile. For only with a new curriculum available in considerable detail will it be possible to judge with any precision whether it is superior to the current curriculum. And only with a new model will it be possible to refute the arguments against change or, perhaps, to adjudge that these arguments are irrefutable.
