Abstract: Abstract When you are invited to give an after dinner speech I suppose one should tell an after dinner story. I will do that by recounting a story that happened more than a quarter of a century ago. It is the story of an organization called the Mathematical Association of America and a committee of that organization, whose initials in those days were CUP though somehow later it sprung an additional initial of M.
