Abstract: Abstract Montmort’s fame rests on his Essay d’analyse des jeux de hazard, which was virtually contemporaneous with Jakob Bernoulli’s Ars Conjectandi and Abraham de Moivre’s De Mensura Sortis; and on his collaboration with Nicolaus Bernoulli.
