A chapter in Electrochemical Cell Design, 1984, pp 197-205 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The EC ElectroSynCell (ESC) and the EC Multi Purpose Cell (MP) are useful for lab evaluation of different processes, pilot plant testing and scale up to small-scale production. In this investigation it is shown that with air cathodes instead of ordinary planar nickel cathodes in a chlor-alkali process as much as 1 MWh/ton chlorine produced or 30 MWh/yr-m2 of electrode area could be gained. It is concluded that because of technical and economical risks this facility will mainly be introduced in small-scale production units for the present.
