Chapter Chapter 6 in Stochastic Approaches for Systems Biology, 2011, pp 173-200 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter develops a compact form of the 2MA equations—a system of ODEs for the dynamics of the mean and (co)variance of the continuous-time discrete-state Markov process that models a biochemical reaction system by the CME. This is an extension of previous derivations, taking into account relative concentrations and nonelementary reactions. The compact form, obtained by careful selection of notation, allows for an easier interpretation.
