Chapter Chapter 11 in Introduction to Biometry, 1999, pp 67-70 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, the distribution of the variance ratio F=S 1 2 /S 2 1 already mentioned in chapter 8, will be used to test hypotheses or to determine confidence intervals concerning the ratio of the parametric variances σ 1 2 and σ 2 1 of two normal populatons. The distribution of the variance ratio can also be used to do an overall comparison of the means or of the estimation (regression) lines of several samples, but those other uses will be covered in later chapters (chapters 12, 21, 26, 27, 28, etc.).
