Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to show how to perform a simple analysis of variance (ANOVA) model in S-Plus. Many practicing statisticians in the pharmaceutical industry think of S-Plus as a nice exploratory tool, but continue to use SAS to run their confirmatory models. The point to be made here is not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that practice, but rather that an alternative exists. In fact, not only does S-Plus have excellent facilities for confirmatory statistics and modeling, but when combined with its unsurpassed graphics and programming capabilities, it is a very attractive package indeed.
