Uncle Fyodor Fyodorovich Shubert
Sofya Kovalevskaya
Chapter Chapter Seven in A Russian Childhood, 1978, pp 124-132 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract My attachment to my other uncle, my mother’s brother Fyodor Fyodorovich Shubert,l was of quite a different order. This uncle, the only son of his late father, was a good deal younger than my mother. He lived permanently in Petersburg and, as the only male representative of the Shubert family, he enjoyed the boundless adoration of his sisters as well as of his numerous maiden aunts and cousins.
