Abstract:
Abstract A ball of mass m falls from rest through a medium that exerts a frictional drag ke a|V| , where k and a are positive real constants, and |V| is the speed of the ball: (a) Find the speed V of the ball as a function of time after it is released at rest from a height h above the Earth, assuming the acceleration of gravity g is a constant independent of position of the body. (b) Calculate the terminal speed.
