Abstract: Abstract The problems of spherical trigonometry concern the sizes of circular arcs or angles on the surface of a sphere, and their relationships to each other. In applications, the sphere was either the celestial sphere or the earth, the former being a sphere that was thought to contain the fixed stars and to have such a large radius that, in relation to it, the earth was no more than a dot.
