Abstract: Abstract Discontinuities occur when light refracts, when neurons or electronic switches activate, and when collisions or decisions or mitosis or myriad other processes enact a change of regime. We observe them in empirical laws, in the structure of solid bodies, and also in the series expansions of certain mathematical functions.
