Abstract:
Abstract Context is critical to understanding the creation of Bitcoin. In 2008, the world was in the midst of the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression. The prestigious 164-year-old investment bank Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy and American International Group (AIG), the biggest insurer in America, had to be bailed out with a US$85 billion loan by the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
