Chapter Chapter 1 in Power Prediction Modeling of Conventional High-Speed Craft, 2019, pp 1-8 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The reason for the abovementioned objectives is the authors’ belief that a large number of recently published papers are too complex to be useful in everyday practice. As a consequence, practicing naval architects in need of a power prediction, are indirectly forced to rely on commercial software whose essence is often not properly understood. Moreover, the few decades-old experimental results, MMs, etc., are often considered to be archaic, particularly by the younger engineers, and are hence frequently marginalized, although they have not been replaced by better MMs or routines.
