Chapter Chapter 1 in FinTech and Data Privacy in Germany, 2019, pp 1-2 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The chapter outlines the research questions and scope of the book. This book pursues three main objectives. First, we analyze the general perspectives of new digital players in the financial industry, the so-called FinTechs, in Germany. Second, we focus on the handling and use of user data by FinTechs. In this context, we analyze the privacy statements of 505 FinTechs active in Germany. Third, we examine additional questions related to the data processing of FinTechs, such as their business models, cooperation with banks, and regulatory issues. This chapter also provides a brief overview of the methods we apply throughout the book.
