Chapter Chapter 7 in Algorithmic Governance, 2019, pp 107-116 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This concluding chapter deals with some of the key issues inherent in algorithmic governance: objectification, optimisation, and commodification which collectively turn humans into resources that have to be utilised with maximum efficiency. Essentially, these developments are seen as part of anthropocentrism gone wrong, ultimately tilting the balance of embeddedness—inherent to posthumanism—in favour of the digital and the platform economy. After exposing some false leads, this chapter ultimately proposes the closest thing to an emancipatory strategy available: love as a way of restoring care and repairing the balance of embeddedness.
