Geopolitics of Natural Resources
Sam Sarpong
A chapter in The Palgrave Handbook of Corporate Social Responsibility, 2021, pp 1131-1151 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Geopolitics and natural resources have been formidable partners in the quest for power, space, and prosperity. The demand for and competition over natural resources have emerged as important issues for both resource-rich developing countries and resource-consuming developed countries. The chapter explores the spatial character of geopolitical developments and conceptualizations and also analyzes their relationship to key political-economic, environmental, and social patterns. It also seeks to untangle some of the key issues inherent in this partnership in order to deepen our understanding of some of the fundamental geopolitical forces shaping the current geopolitical landscape.
