Abstract: Abstract We discuss factors that may differ between refugees from Asian developing counties and other immigrants from Asia. These include lower levels of community and kinship ties in the U.S., different forms of self-selection for refugees than other immigrants, different levels of skill transferability, and a higher level of expected permanence. We provide background statistics on refugees including where they choose to live and their educational distribution.
