The Cash Balance
Hans-Werner Sinn
Chapter Chapter 4 in The Economics of Target Balances, 2020, pp 25-28 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract As international payments may be carried out with physical cash rather than payment orders, physical international cash flows among the countries of the Eurozone may result in “cash balances” that are very similar to the Target balances. Indeed, the Eurosystem makes an attempt to calculate these balances and requires the NCBs to book them in their balance sheets.
