Abstract: Abstract In this concise introductory contribution I ask how blockchain technology has already and how it will in the future effect the basic underpinnings of property law theory. The chapter presents three main features of a blockchain cryptographic technique, and in addition, three features of property rights as acknowledged by the famous work of William Blackstone of the eighteenth century. The potential interaction between these features is briefly discussed.
