Abstract:
Abstract As can be seen in Fig. 9.1, conflict serves as a lens in order to clearly see reality. In this chapter, we use the lens of the conflict function to mechanically locate and compare conflicts, and pinpoint critical conflicts in a drama. Note that we do not look at conflicts between concepts or other abstractions; only conflicts between individuals or characters. This is possible since characters frequently act as metaphors and mouthpieces for specific sides of a conflict.
