Abstract: Abstract This chapter aims to provide foundational knowledge of how regulation, assessment and inspection are being designed and implemented across several countries in relation to integrated care. It begins with defining each term, the benefits of each, and roles of various health and social system actors. A common theme throughout regulation, assessment and inspection is the focus on the client journey and how the client experiences and perceives care. Equally important is the value that stakeholders attribute to the regulation, assessment or inspection process. This forces governments, assessment bodies and inspectorates to be mindful to monitor outcomes that matter.
