Chapter Chapter 5 in Application of Mathematics and Optimization in Construction Project Management, 2021, pp 119-140 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The Time–Cost Trade-off has been recognized as an important aspect of construction project management subject to the project’s fixed budget/deadline or obtains minimum cost/duration for the project. It is, in its continuous or discrete variants, generally dealt with the deterministic or nondeterministic mathematical, heuristic, and metaheuristic approaches. Stochastic, fuzzy, and robust optimizations are the modeling approaches that are widely used in the background of the concept. Although there is reach literature on the context, no comprehensive review research exists to draw a framework of the past mathematical approaches and to critically shed light on potential directions for future research. This research is presented to fill this gap by extensively reviewing and classifying the literature of the concept and provide some potential directions for future research.
