Abstract: Abstract Marine renewable energy generated from ocean tides and waves has not yet reached wide spread deployment or full commercial availability on par with comparable sources. This handbook chapter describes the global development of marine renewable energy technology and the most promising commercialization pathways, including “blue economy” marine applications, competitiveness in new electric grid paradigms, and emerging economic models for renewable energy development.
