Chapter 1 in A Guide to Sustainable Corporate Responsibility, 2022, pp 1-8 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Since the Industrial Revolution, we have experienced tremendous growth in population, production, and consumption. We are on an unsustainable track considering today’s environmental degradation, poverty, climate challenges, overconsumption, and more. In this first chapter, I present key issues related to societal development over the course of the last decade and pinpoint what needs attention. The background, relevance, and purpose of this book’s 12 chapters are introduced.
