Abstract:
Abstract This case study utilizes a compensation analysis to determine whether public sector employees earned similar compensation to their private sector counterparts. Unlike wages in the private sector, public sector wages are subject to budgetary constraints, and often determined years in advance by collective bargaining agreements. The Plaintiff in this case was a public sector employee union representing firefighters, which sued the city after their prior collective bargaining agreement expired. The Plaintiff sued for back payBack pay and compensation substantially equal to comparable private sector firefighters.
