Chapter 5 in Mathematical Geosciences, 2023, pp 183-207 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The concept of stochastic global optimization, based on the Metropolis algorithm combined with artificial annealing, is introduced. Its application to global minimization of real valued functions is illustrated. Examples are provided, such as the disk packing problem, the traveling salesman problem on the globe, and nonlinear regression.
