Chapter Chapter 4 in Essays in Economic History, 2022, pp 77-81 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The Salamancans and Malynes were similar in the foundation of their analysis on the inflow of gold and silver from the Americas, but quite different in their personal lives—the Salamancans being professors and theologians while Malynes was a businessman who would skirt the law and even violate it. An amendment to my critique of Michaely’s view of Cassel’s theory is offered, and later studies that apply purchasing power parity to economic history are discussed.
