Abstract I imagine that many of those who have achieved success in some enterprise or other or have inadvertently avoided foundering on reefs directly in their way, have spontaneously wondered what portion of their good fortune—what they had obtained or what life had given them—was really theirs to claim in the sense of being earned or deserved.
