Chapter Chapter 3 in Transparency in Business, 2023, pp 49-82 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews the literature on price transparency to gain a better understanding of its significance. The multiple, context-dependent meanings of price transparency are identified and explored, an original framework capturing the different elements of price transparency from the organization’s and customer’s points of view throughout the pricing process is presented, and the distinction between accessibility-based and disclosure-based price transparency is investigated. Whereas the former emphasizes the ready accessibility of prices, the latter has to do with availability of pricing inputs and price performance variables to external constituents.
