Chapter Chapter 4 in Transparency in Business, 2023, pp 83-110 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter examines the research on organizational transparency considering observability, a culture of candor, the so-called conversational firm, and deliberately orchestrated and consensually shared information that is useful, undisguised, and unbiased. Drawing upon a range of scholarly sources, six significant contributors to building a transparent organizational culture are enumerated. The chapter concludes by considering research on pay transparency and its relation to the gender wage gap to explore the nuanced (positive and negative) implications of cultural transparency on the organization as a whole and its members.
