Abstract: Abstract The 37 years I spent as a professor and administrator in various leading academic institutions obviously have also shaped my vision significantly. To be honest, to communicate succinctly and to always try to do what might be best for the institution where I worked, in contrast to a more-or-less unilateral emphasis on what might be best for me, were key drivers. This added up to an appreciation of long-term, disciplined thinking dosed heavily with a strong sense of purpose and commitment.
