Chapter 7 in Strategic Optionality, 2023, pp 169-182 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract How to systematically incorporate option thinking in strategy-making? This chapter concerns itself with this question. The last six chapters have provided you with the necessary conceptual tools to make sense of the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) business environment. Here we provide a structured method of instilling option thinking in strategy-making, a step-by-step guide. In this chapter, we provide a framework through which firms can evaluate their existing options and identify others that they can acquire. Developing the ability to make strategic decisions under conditions of uncertainty is the focus of the chapter.
