Due to the fact that education is a determined vector of a country’s competitiveness, we continued, over a time horizon of 20 years, 2000-2020, the analysis based on macroeconomic indicators as: the Global Competitiveness Index, the Human Capital Index, the Lifelong Learning Index, the Human Development Index, the Knowledge Economy Index and the Knowledge Index, the indicators being aggregated while the education component owning a significant part. Last but not least, this chapter highlights some examples of good practice from countries as: Great Britain, Sweden, South Korea, Poland, which are demonstrating their effectiveness at global level. Therefore, the plea for the major importance of higher education and, implicitly, for the importance of the investment in education, in the fight for the world supremacy of the XXI century, is continued in this chapter, on the basis of the statistical and econometric methods, as well as the study of some relations between higher education and economic development in the case of the above presented states, including Romania in this list as well.
