Chapter 5 in Refugee and Immigrant Entrepreneurship, 2023, pp 89-145 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract After the war that broke out in Syria (2011), Syrian people sought refuge in geographically close countries. One of these countries is Türkiye, which borders Syria. Syrian refugees who have come to Türkiye for more than 10 years have been living in different working conditions: some of them are employed as blue-collar workers in the production sector or unskilled labor class. Some of the Syrian immigrants started to take part in various job fields by undertaking entrepreneurial activities. Entrepreneurial activities that took place not only changed the economic and financial structure in the relevant geographical region, but also led to the discovery of new areas about what will be the next dimensions of the existing entrepreneurship. These areas undertaken by immigrant entrepreneurs attract the attention of researchers to examine how the economic and commercial structure will change. Existing academic studies will play a guiding role in which researches to be carried out in the future. In this study, a bibliometric investigation of the scientific studies related to entrepreneurial efforts and activities of the Syrian refugees in Türkiye was carried out.
