Chapter Chapter 5 in Food Security in the Economy of the Future, 2023, pp 37-43 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The paper aims to monitor the compliance of today’s agriculture with the needs of food security for sustainable development. The research is based on the regression analysis method, which models the econometric dependence of the global food security index in 2021 on agricultural land and agriculture, forestry, and fishing, value added in 2020. As a result, the authors prove that a favorable environment for agricultural development does not mean its high productivity and does not guarantee food security. The contribution of the research to the literature lies in the clarification of the causal relationships of food security. The theoretical significance of the findings is that food security is a complex process that goes beyond natural and climatic conditions. This opened up a new angle for the study of agriculture without a clear reference to land resources. The practical significance of the research results is related to the fact that they emphasized the paramount importance of the efficiency of natural resources over their availability, as well as demonstrated the possibility of achieving climate resilience in agriculture.
