Chapter Chapter 10 in Competition Culture and Corporate Finance, 2023, pp 209-212 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this book, we explore the role that a specific type of corporate culture; namely, competition culture plays in corporate finance. To be sure firms’ culture is a broad, intangible, and inherently complex concept (see e.g., Schein in Human Resource Management in International Firms. Palgrave Macmillan, London, England, 1990; Schein in Organizational Culture and Leadership: A Dynamic View. Jossey-Bass, 1992;; Benabou and Tirole in The Review of Economic Studies 70:489–520, 2003; Benabou and Tirole in The Quarterly Journal of Economics 126:805–855, 2011;; Zingales in Journal of Financial Economics 117:1–4, 2015; Graham et al. in Journal of Financial Economics 146:552–593, 2022), which is expected to be influenced by and reflect the values and practices of top management and those charged with governance.
