Chapter Chapter 5 in Contemporary Perspectives in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior, 2023, pp 79-98 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines the research trends and challenges which revolve around workplace diversity and inclusion by promoting equity and belongingness to maximize organizational effectiveness. Indeed, the differences but interrelatedness between diversity and inclusion are discussed, and research perspectives on its many dimensions are evaluated. For instance, research on age diversity/inclusion and issues around generational value differences and ‘wokeness,’ sexual orientation, gender equity and inclusion debates, discrimination in relation to national culture/religion/ethnicity will be discussed and evaluated. It must be recognized that organizations where many different genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, and sexual orientations and identities are present, but only the perspectives of certain groups are valued or hold any authority or influence, may be diverse, but it is not inclusive. Communication channels, employee voice, empowerment, and other such issues also impact inclusion. This research debate is explored, and gaps are also identified.
