A chapter in Behavioral Public Policy in a Global Context, 2023, pp 179-190 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) continues to be one of the world's slowest-growing regions. Reducing the growth gap requires improving the effectiveness and efficiency of public policies. Behavioral insights are part of the toolbox that policymakers are increasingly using to enhance the effectiveness of public policy in a political context in which structural reforms are difficult. To foster sustainable and equitable growth, the Inter-American Development Bank has created a group that helps apply and disseminate behavioral insights in the Bank and the region. This chapter describes the work of the IDB Behavioral Economics Group, provides examples of how it brings behavioral insights to public policy, and it offers lessons learned and recommendations for governments and other multilateral institutions.
