Chapter Chapter 2 in Cognitive Operations, 2023, pp 13-34 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The DrosophilaDrosophila Melanogaster, or as it is more commonly known the fruit fly, has about 75% of the genes known to cause human diseases. This makes it a great model organism for the basic study of human disease and the affordable and efficient testing of medical drugs, as pointed out by Christiane Nüsslein-Vollhard in her 1995 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine lecture.
