Abstract: Abstract This section presents different approaches that can be adopted for sentiment analysis in text-based opinion mining. Topics such as sentiment analysis through lexicons, multilayer perceptron, convolutional neural networks, and LSTM (long short-term memory) for sentiment analysis and different evaluation techniques for model training and validation are discussed. The goal of this section is to introduce the reader to the main machine learning algorithm and techniques used in sentiment analysis.
