Chapter Chapter 7 in Interdisciplinary Reflections on South Asian Transitions, 2023, pp 105-127 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The chapter outlines different dimensions of Hindutva project and its political implications for the state, society, culture and economy in India. The triumph of Hindutva project in India is a product of consistent propaganda based on fear to domesticate the masses in the name of nationalism. The Hindutva social and political contract provides necessary foundation for the expansion and consolidation of capitalism in India. Such an alliance based on theological politics is not only destroying constitutionally established public institutions, but it also robbing the commons with its rent-seeking approach to citizenship.
