Chapter 4 in Humanizing the Digital Economy, 2023, pp 103-123 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Liberals believe that centralized government can be an instrument for improving social justice. The popularity of liberalism in America can be traced to social disruptions caused by the rise of huge corporations, economic depressions, the persistence of racism, and most recently environmental concerns. Although liberals prefer market solutions, they believe that markets need an outside umpire to operate fairly. The liberal champions I chose are Keynes, Schelling, Minsky, Samuelson, Berle, and Means. Others referred to briefly are Bentham, J. S. Mill, T. H. Green, Hobhouse, Hartz, Rawls, and Downs. To see how liberal thought has influenced the Democratic Presidential Platforms, I compare their planks with liberal ideological thought.
