Chapter Chapter 10 in The Changing Role of National Development Banks in Africa, 2023, pp 221-251 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract It is obvious that Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) as well as Impact Evaluation (IE) are important concepts that are key to inclusive economic development. They are programmes and systems designed to help institutions and corporations build an ‘evidence-based policy’. They are critical in creating awareness and stirring up debate about the effectiveness and efficiency of the programmes and policies. The importance of the M&E role within development finance institutions has been reinforced by the growing voice of M&E practitioners and emerging development partners who have brought to the fore the issues of good governance and a more effective development impact.
