Chapter Chapter 1 in Circular Economy and Policy, 2023, pp 1-29 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on circular economy definition and its regenerative power. In the new regime, entrepreneurs want to maximize profits as well as environmental and social goals. Therefore, it is necessary to better understand the linkages between profitability and sustainability. Furthermore, the chapter emphasizes the circular economy within the market’s perspective. How the economic theory faces on this matter? The answer depends on the business model selected. Circular production may improve benefits and decrease costs (social, economic, and environmental costs). One the main problem in many Countries around the world regards waste management. A solution comes from circular production. It is possible to use raw materials with less environmental impact and produce primary second materials to re-use in further production processes.
