Chapter Chapter 8 in The Kansas Blue Sky Act of 1911, 2023, pp 107-124 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract As Americans’ interest in stock market trading grew in the 1920s, the arguments of investment bankers that Kansas model regulation was paternalistic tapped into a growing sense that government regulation was an infringement of liberty. Economists’ insistence that markets could regulate themselves also undermined faith in securities regulation, even as ever-larger frauds were sold to a public that was losing millions on offerings.
