A chapter in Trails in Modern Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, 2023, pp 17-52 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract According to Gianni’s view of research, the role of Mathematics is essential in many fields of science, and in Theoretical Physics in particular. The literature is full of claims which look reasonable, but are not based on theorems or rigorous proofs. And this is true in Condensed Matter, Statistical Physics, Quantum Field Theory, Elementary Particles and so on. The content of this chapter, I believe, could have been of some interest for Gianni, even if, as far as I know, he was never working on what I will discuss here. Therefore, with this in mind, let me start my scientific contribution to this volume.
